TSA based Faster Security Screening Process

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has set some rules and regulations for the screen passengers. The security for air travel has started from years when an agency was created after 9/11 terror attacks.  This faster security screening is an intelligence-driven strategy.

This method is mainly designed  to give the expedited screening for the trusted travelers with the help of  TSA’s newly built rules.  Its officers allow focusing on high-risk and unknown passengers at the security checkpoints.

Under the TSA’s program, officers may use risk-bases security measures to find out, mitigate and resolve potential threats at the security checkpoints such as by asking questions related to traveling to include identity, travel history and property.

It will also use various processes consists of screening to unpredictable security measures throughout the airports so that no individual is guaranteed an expedited screening. Many trace detection has been installed at the airports to enhance the security at the airports.

TSA's Secure Flight Program

Secure Flight is a risk-based passenger-pre screening program that is used by TSA to find out low and high-risk travelers before their flight to match their names against trusted traveler lists and watch lists. It only collects full name, date of birth, and gender for accurate matching. They have installed various trace explosive detectors to detect any illegal thing.

TSA also sends some instructions to the airlines to select which tools are eligible for TSA Pre Check, those who need high-level security screening and for those who receive regular screening.

Secure Flight also stops travelers on the No Fly List and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Do Not Board List from boarding an aircraft.

The Secure Flight program:

  • Prevents passengers on the No Fly List from boarding a plane
  • Ensures that passengers on the Selected List are subjected to extra screening to determine if they should be permitted to fly.
  • Identifies known and suspected terrorists.

Screening Technology

Passengers at the airport are screened via millimeter wave advanced imaging technology and walk-through metal detectors. Millimeter wave technology can screen travelers without physical contact for metallic and non-metallic threats.

Travelers can decline using that technology and request a physical screening. However, some will still have to go through traditional screening if their boarding pass indicates that they have been selected for enhanced screening. Explosive vapor detector price is high but highly recommendable device for the security purpose.
